How it all started… Recently I was emailing Graham, VE7ABC back and forth and he shared with me the beginnings of the BARC swap meet. Here’s an insert from that email…
And of course the Flea Market that originally started out almost as a joke. A member named Rob VE7TT once asked me (I think I was the president at the time) about holding a Dutch auction for the members who might have some quality junk they wanted to get rid of. So I said sure, and the rest was history. One time, when Harry VE7HNC arranged for the Flea Market to happen at the Armoury in New Westminster, we had a lineup to get in that went down to Royal Avenue. Inside, walking to see what the tables held was like salmon swimming upstream, with wall-to-wall buyers.
I remember those swap meets at the Armoury. They were epic. Graham, thanks for sharing.
This years swap meet will be held on November 14th at the Salvation Army Cariboo Temple, 7195 Cariboo Rd, Burnaby. See map below.
Doors open for sellers at 8:00, buyers at 9:00 until noon.
There will be a test bench sponsored by Burnaby Radio Communications and a radio programming table if you need help setting up a handheld.

Coming from Hwy 1 take the Gaglardi Way turn off and turn right onto Cariboo Road. Once you pass back over the freeway you’ll come to a traffic light. Turn right into the Salvation Army parking lot. If you know where we normally meet during the summer at Cariboo Park, 10th Ave and Cariboo Road, just head down Cariboo, down the hill and hang a left at the light. Parking is in the south lot with the entrance to the Gym at the back.
