Member Announcement – Equipment Manager Duties To Be Voted On

At the beginning of this fiscal year for the club the Executive asked the Directors to write up a formal list of duties for the Equipment Manager position  (the Equipment Manager is appointed by the club’s Directors).

BARC Equipment Manager Duties Feb 2013 (pdf)  is the list of duties that they have come up with (with a couple of wording edits by VA7KJW).

Please keep in mind that this list is not intended to cover HOW those duties are to be carried out … only WHAT the duties are. The next step in the process will cover the detailed procedures involved in carrying out each of the four duties.

We will be voting on these duties, as written in the above linked document, at our March 15th business meeting.

If you are a member in good standing and wish to vote but cannot attend the meeting please advise the Executive via email sent to no later than Thursday, March 14th 10:00pm. Please include either what your vote is (yes or no) or the name of the person who is authorized to cast your vote at the meeting.

CG7CWPC Canada Day Contest – 2012 Results

The results are in for the 2012 Canada Day contest. A number of us operated as Multi Transmitter Multi Operator class (MOMT) under the special event callsign CG7CWPC during the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the C.W. Parker Carousel here in Burnaby. A few of us were even first-time contesters. We all had a lot of fun participating and as Eric, VE7EES,  says "we are not last" 😉  Yeah us!

You can view all the details on the RAC website at

Website Updates

Yeah! It's finally happening ... the website is getting a much needed update.

Actually it's more like a major overhaul.

While a lot of work has already been done, there's still a whole bunch left to do ... like adding all the old content back in. We'll probably also be tweaking the colours and photos a bit too ... maybe a few times ... until we find something that fits just right.

The great thing about the new website is that we're now able to offer an iCal compatible events calendar (so you can add our events to your Google Calendar or other favorite calendar program). We'll also be able to finally provide additional features specially for our club members.

If you had any of our old web pages bookmarked you'll need to update your links. And if you can't find the page you're looking for please send us a note and we'll get the information to you.
